The Poetry of Cheri Hester
What Matters
The water moving the earth out to sea
The blue bird taking worms to her young
The great trees, the houses of the squirrel and bird
The great lion king of the jungle
The lightning that strikes down
The thunder that claps loud
The ant that lives under ground
Do you?
Do I?
And if so, why?
What makes something matter to you?
What makes it worth seeing?
What makes you care?
