The Poetry of George Weber

George Weber lives in Valinda, California, which is approximately twenty miles east of Los Angeles. He was born in Chicago on Sept. 26, 1927. He began writing poetry in 1993.

Mr. Weber attempts to keep his poetry simple while imparting meaning to each and every poem. Mr. Weber's poetry shows a strong appreciation for nature and wilderness. He believes that feelings, faith, love, and a sense of granduer are carried within each person. His poems attempt to convey those feelings to the reader.

George Weber's poetry also appears in the 1999 edition of The Central Califormnia Poetry Journal on page: 9113

DE FENCE

We're aware of the trespass signs
we enter the farmer's field
not a worry about crossing
his fence
Ambling across his field
nary a thought of the consequence
just boys up to boyish devilment
Beyond a clump of trees
a pond where as you wade
aging leaves and fallen debris
turn your feet green
Suddenly who should appear
watchdogs of a type unseen
especially mean
White honkers blasting away
eagerly exhorting us come
come from the water to play
Extended shadows elongate
across the shore outstretched wings
convey a ferocious display
Eventide dilemma as green footed
boys race from savage geese
nip and tuck at an exposed behind

HEART O MINE

does it beat to carry oxygen?
I think not
does it beat to circulate blood?
I think not
does it beat to show the flush of your face?
I think not
does it beat so a nurse may take your pulse?
I think not
does it beat so a doctor may say you're fine today?
I think not!
Can this be that place
Where God has given you grace?
Can this be that place
Where you learn to feel?
Can this be that place
Where when you say (I love you)?
Your heart adds an extra beat or two
Can this be that place
Where when you hold a tiny babe?
You feel nothing but love through and through
Can this be that place
Where when a love is lost
you wish to trade places at any cost?
four chambers filled with emotion and love
I must say
this is a gift from the Lord above

from the LORD TEARS

I cried today
I wrote a poem of simplicity
As I read it back
it over whelmed me
my chest opened wide
with delight my emotions escaped
tears welled in my heart and soul
and I found myself thanking the Lord
I had no idea when I sat down
what it was I was about to compose
Keith had given us a word (heart)
I wrote a couple of lines
still nothing rang a bell
I did most proficiently delete
a couple of lines and still I sat
it was delete this, delete that
then in a slightly different way
as I began over again
repetition was this even a poem
questions and answers
could this be the way
and it flowed
I read it and I cried
profusely I cried
it was a relief as
I sobbed and I sighed
And I thanked the Lord
