raising the hem of its skirts
In a smile--
& all we can do is wonder
about the approximations
of what lies beyond
There is no answer
no understanding
There is no title
no frame given
to this universe unsized--
There is no one "else"
(or otherwise)
This god/devil
is not even known to itself
My Interpretations Of Heaven
I remember when I was little
Coming to Tuolumne Meadows
the old highway--
It was indestructible heaven.
God lived here. Couched in a
1950's Christmas
at home:
Shaking popcorn over the hearth
the fire a self contained world of mystery
The world so young
the first TV
The best of all worlds, --& everything.
God's kingdom...
Santa's summer playground.
Now I see it--
as finite. Fragile.
God passing, in memory
Long since passed away. Youth
replaced with the message,
"If we're going to come here
we need to come with heart--"
treading as lightly
as the angels.
Santa's helpers on their own.
